Straight out the archives, turkish DJ Barış K recently uploaded a batch of old sets and radio shows from back in the days. The uploads are found on his mixcloud profile and are dated from 2000-2008. Musical styles range from black, funk and good old boom bap hip hop music while mixes recorded in the latter half of the decade also include a twist towards more bouncy and electronic tunes.
It’s safe to say that this guy is incredible and he had a huge impact on why oriental/turkish folk records gained a massive increase in international popularity in the past few years. Not only is he resident DJ of istanbul’s underground dance club minimüzikhol, he also contributes with his well-crafted curations to radio shows and international indie festivals like Dekmantel. Add on top his steady force in the studio with serious production/editing skills. One of his latest releases include a spooky remix for Kit Sebastian’s Mantra Moderne – Remixes EP on Mr Bongo.
Love it bro, mehr davon!
