Over the past decades, the two virtuosos Karriem Riggins (Drums) and Madlib (multi instrumentalist/beatmaker/Quasimoto) have earned themselves a name in the game as two of the more influential and innovative artists on the planet. On their new collaborative project “Pardon My French” the two join forces under the alias Jahari Massamba Unit to create an instrumental album which delivers wild forms of fusion jazz. It’s a very moody overall project with chaos and aggressiveness all over the place. The style may be comparable to Sun-Ra, Miles Davis or groovy blaxploitation soundtracks with some funky horns and organic elements here and there complementing the hectic percussions. The tracklist shows that titles are mainly centered around wine and curse words in french.
